What is the Humboldt County RCD?
The HCRCD is a non-regulatory organization that works in voluntary cooperation with landowners, residents, and community groups. We provide information, technical assistance and funding to implement practices that improve and protect water quality and natural habitat on private lands. The work of the HCRCD is funded through public grants and contracts.
Who We Are:
The Humboldt County Resource Conservation District (HCRCD) was formed in 1987 as a special district of the County of Humboldt. The districtís function is to assist private landowners in voluntary planning, design, and installation of soil and water conservation practices in Humboldt County. The district is governed by a Board of Directors made up of volunteer community leaders appointed by the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors. The districtís primary technical services are provided through a cooperative partnership with the United States Department of Agricultureís Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), as well as technical staff specifically hired by the district through grant funds.
What We Do:
The basis of our work is to assist landowners in achieving best management practices and other conservation measures where they request it. Currently, and in the past, the HCRCD has received funding to administer water quality improvement programs that alleviate non point source pollution through best management practices. We also help to connect landowners with funding sources that fit the type of project they would like to implement. Below is a list of past and current projects.
