Forest Health Watershed Coordinator

Serving North Coast RCDs, the Forest Health Watershed Coordinator facilitates watershed-scale collaborations, promotes integrated watershed management efforts, and supports local implementation activities to restore resilience to forestlands.

About the Position

Humboldt County RCD is hosting a Forest Health Watershed Coordinator position in direct partnership with North Coast RCDs under the regional RCD’s Durable Collaboratives Initiative. The Forest Health Watershed Coordinator facilitated watershed-scale collaborations, promotes integrated watershed management efforts, and supports local implementation activities to restore resilience to forestlands. Specifically, the Coordinator’s work is focused on developing projects and opportunities that increase the rate of carbon sequestration in our forests and watersheds, reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and improve wildfire resiliency and forest health in the North Coast Region. The Coordinator is working to achieve this by developing funding opportunities for this work in a thoughtful, prioritized, and coordinated fashion. The Coordinator is also working to build closer relationships between North Coast RCDs, agencies, and local groups; develop joint programs; and provide a more unified voice in decision-making around natural resource management concerns and public funding.

This program has been funded in part through a grant awarded by the California Department of Conservation.
